Building Bridges in Action: Leadership, Community, and Purpose
Today’s Building Bridges Leadership Seminar was a reminder of why this work matters.
It was truly great having CJ Wurster with us, guiding a thoughtful and practical conversation on leadership, formation, and community impact. What made this session especially meaningful was the room itself — professionals from AI & Data, members of Gilbert Leadership (Class 34), and community leaders all learning together in the same space.
That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when we’re intentional about building bridges.
CJ challenged us to think beyond titles and sectors and to focus instead on the kind of leaders we are becoming — leaders rooted in character, clarity, and service. He spoke about the importance of mentorship, the responsibility that comes with influence, and the need to prepare the next generation for real-world complexity, not just theoretical success.
What stood out most was the dialogue. The questions, reflections, and shared experiences reinforced a simple truth: leadership is not siloed. The challenges we face in business, education, technology, and community life are deeply connected — and so must be our solutions.
Hosting this conversation at the Deloitte Gilbert office, with community leaders present, was intentional. Leadership development should happen where innovation and responsibility intersect, and today’s seminar modeled what that can look like in practice.
I’m grateful to CJ Wurster for his leadership and generosity, to everyone who showed up ready to engage, and to those who continue to believe that leadership is ultimately about service and stewardship.
Building Bridges continues — because our communities are strongest when we lead together.
