Walking Into a New Year With Gratitude
The start of a new year always invites reflection.
It’s a pause before momentum.
A breath before vision.
A moment to look back before stepping forward.
As I enter 2026, there is so much I am grateful for—but above all, I am grateful for my wife.
I often tell people that we walked down the aisle twice.
The first time, we weren’t walking toward each other.
We were walking beside each other—unknowingly.
We met at a friend’s wedding.
She was part of the maid of honor team.
I was one of the groomsmen.
At the time, there was no grand love story unfolding. No sparks flying in slow motion. Just two people serving, showing up for friends, and doing life in the same space. We were simply platonic friends.
For a season.
Friendship turned into deeper conversations.
Deeper conversations turned into intentional courtship.
And courtship, in God’s perfect timing, turned into marriage.
Looking back, I’m grateful not just for where we ended up—but how we got there.
I’m grateful for the foundation of friendship.
I’m grateful for patience.
I’m grateful for growth.
I’m grateful for partnership.
Marriage has taught me that love isn’t just about romance—it’s about alignment, grace, sacrifice, laughter, prayer, and choosing one another daily. Through every season, my wife has been my confidant, my anchor, my encourager, and my greatest earthly gift.
As we step into a new year, I carry that gratitude with me.
And as you step into 2026, I want to speak this over you:
May this be a beautiful year for you.
May your dreams take shape and your prayers find answers.
May you make meaningful connections that sharpen and stretch you.
May your relationships be rich and your purpose be clear.
And may your life be filled with grace—the kind that sustains you in the highs and carries you through the lows.
Here’s to new beginnings, deep gratitude, and walking forward—sometimes twice—with intention.
Happy New Year.
